To succeed in such a complex area we excell in multiple technologies and capabilities such as:

  • SCADA: Development of automation systems and user interfaces with platforms such as Wonderware, integrating not only conventional automation systems based on PLC but also other types of systems such as PA (Public Address), OCPP (electrical vehicle charge point protocols), irrigation remote nodes, etc.
  • OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol): Charge Point and Central Systems certification services for OCPP standard and the ZeEUS (Zero Emission Urban Bus System) project electrical bus protocol extension. Development of distributed management systems for recharge systems based on OCPP.
  • Data Centre: Design and deployment of the datacentre required infrastructure to support the projects, including virtual machines using VMWare, redundancy, high availability, etc.
  • Networking: Both local networking with VLANS, routing, etc. and wide area networking with access VPN, site-to-site VPN, redundancy, etc., using both proprietary technology such as Cisco and open technology such as VyOS and OpenVPN.
  • PLC automation: Development of both the automation software and the HMI user interfaces using platforms such as B&R or Schneider.
  • Distributed systems: Design and development of highly available redundant distributed systems using core technologies such as .NET, C# or C++ and Qt
  • Linux embedded: Design and development of embedded software solutions based on Linux and C++ Qt. Setup of linux embedded distributions and development environments based on Yocto.
  • Embedded electronics:  Using STM32, PIC hardware platforms with RTOS and C++.
  • ERP: Installation, configuration administration and suport of odoo.

Our team has participated in multiple projects through our clients. As an example:

Electrical BUS recharge system control

We have designed and developed for Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) the new distributed system that manages the electrical bus recharge infrastructure in the different depots. This system provides a OCPP 1.5 compliant central system for each depot that manages the local chargers, integrates all the information in a central server in the datacentre, that provides the realtime status to a Wonderware based SCADA system and historizes the information for the reporting services. The depots can operate autonomously so the system does not loose functionality or information in the event of network failures.

Our company provides also the service to test and certify that the vehichle charge points comply both with the OCPP 1.5 standard and also with the standard extension to support bus operation specific functionalities of TMB and ZeEUS project.

This architecture may be applied to any company that need to deploy a recharge point central system distributed in multiple locations with a centralised operation an control centre, and expanded to meet the specific requirements that the company operation has.

Digital Public Address system and Passenger Information system

We are participating in the desing and development for Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) of the new PA (Public Address) and Passenger Information system based on the ASL (Application Solutions (Safety and Security) Ltd) plaform and QT C++. This project starts integrating all the legacy devices in the new software platform and migrating the control centre in such a way that the almost 130 subway stations can be migrated without interrupting the system operation, transparently to the control centre operators.
The core technologies in this project are the ASL platform, QT C++ and RS-485 buses control for the legacy devices.

Digital Public Address system

Our team has participated in the design and development of the new digital Public Address system of the Barajas AENA airport in Madrid. This highly-available system is based on the seamless integration of Peavy NION devices using NWare software for the distributed signal processing and control and centralised servers using C# based control services. These servers manage both the redundant central NION audio processing devices for the central audio sources, and the remote distributed NION devices for the local audio sources and processing. This system includes a second independent redundant Public Address system as backup, which is integrated and coordinated with the main system so the failover is both automatic and instantaneous.

Project plan and implementation of odoo upgrade

We’ve been in the ERP technology and business consulting for a long time and have been able to gain experience working mainly with small companies with heterogeneous data and diverse processes.

  • Step 1: Put a governance structure in place and establish oversight with specific milestone dates, metrics and change management control points.
  • Step 2: Host a formal planning process with all stakeholders in the organization. It’s critical to determine what organizational changes, business process improvements and technology updates are in scope for the project and which ones are unrealistic.
  • Step 3: Determine and set the scope of the upgrade.
  • Step 4: Evaluate the impact on existing processes and determine modifications required.
  • Step 5: Develop a plan to migrate data.
  • Step 6; Train the customer team.
  • Step 7: Execute the upgrade and data migration. Test data integrity and system performance.
  • Step 8: Perform the effectiveness review. After the go live on the new version, we have evaluated that process changes and efficiency updates are realized and users support has been provided.

    Juan Pedro Rodríguez is the engineering director at UUTECH where he works on innovation in IoT, distributed systems, automation, edge computing and embedded systems.
    He holds degrees in telecom engineering, electrical engineering and economics, and an MBA from the IESE Business School.
